Kurz vor Weihnachten gibt es für Xbox One Preview Mitglieder ein neues Beta Dashboard Update. Dieses beschert allen Xbox Insidern Blu-ray Bitstream Passthrough mit Dolby Atmos. Damit die Neuerungen angezeigt werden, müsst ihr eventuell eure Konsole einmal komplett neustarten. Ein Download des Updates ist nicht nötig, da die Features schon bei der letzten Aktualisierung aufgespielt und vergangene Nacht freigeschaltet wurden.
People are always wondering why we say miscellaneous fixes in our builds, well we are able to enable features (hidden and then turn them on with a Live service setting). Therefore you DO not need to download a new build as we had the bits in the build you took over the weekend (1610.161208-1218) – you may just need to REBOOT to see the new setting in Settings.
Well all Preview members can now enjoy a cool new feature on your Xbox One consoles and Xbox One S consoles (yes it works on both!) – We have now turned on a new Blu-ray app feature, Bitstream Pass-through which allows you to experience the best possible audio quality from your movies including Dolby Atmos.

This is how you can turn it on:
- Make sure your console is plugged in via HDMI to an audio receiver which supports decoding of Blu-ray audio formats. Optical audio does not support pass-through.
- Enable „Let my receiver decode audio (beta)“ under the „Disc & Blu-ray“ settings page.
- If you do not see the button immediately try rebooting your console. It can take up to 24 hours for our changes to make it to your console without a reboot.
- Make sure you have the latest Blu-ray player by checking the „Updates“ tab under „My Games & Apps“
- Insert your favorite DVD or Blu-ray disc
- Kick back and enjoy the highest quality audio from your movies and TV shows
We’ve created a quest called “Try Pass-through! – Unleash your inner audiophile with Blu-ray Bitstream Pass-through!” to collect your feedback on the feature.
Since this is a beta feature we do have a couple known issues that we’re still working on:
- Sometimes videos may play with no sound.
- Workaround:
- Try preforming a rewind or skip back a chapter to re-lock the HDMI connection between your console and your audio device.
- If you’re still experiencing no audio during playback, try opening the Blu-ray movie controls and cycle through the available audio tracks using the speaker icon.
iii. If none of these steps work, please file a bug using the Xbox Insider Hub under the Blu-ray app or by completing the quest.
- A pop may be heard when transitioning between chapters or when performing a pause/rewind/fast-forward command.

Die Dolby Atmos Technik erlaubt theoretisch eine unbegrenzte Anzahl von Tonspuren. Genau genommen handelt es sich hierbei um Klangobjekte, die an bestimmten Koordinaten im Hörraum positioniert werden können. Die erste Generation der Hardware, der Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor, unterstützt bis zu 128 einzelne Tonspuren und bis zu 64 separate Ausgangssignale.
Dolby Atmos ist abwärtskompatibel zu älteren Systemen wie 5.1 oder 7.1.

klingt cool, aber man brauch dann garantiert ein Dolby Atmos Sound System und das klingt teuer teuer 😀
Daher es abwärtskompatibel ist werde ich auf jeden Fall mal schauen was man da machen kann und ob oder wie es sich unterscheidet.
Schade ketzt fehlt mir nur die passende Surroundanlage 🙂 Aber coole Sache und unsere geliebte Xbox wird immer besser.
Endlich ist die kiste als media player und uhd player mal benutzbar und auf dem stand von 2006! Man hab ich mich gestern gefreut!
Das hört sich sehr gut an, aber ich glaube mir fehlt dazu noch das passende Endgerät. Naja, irgendwann man vielleicht … 🙂
Betrifft mich zwar aktuell nicht direkt, aber grundsätzlich finde ich solche Updates gut. Und wie schon vor mir bereits gesagt wurde: Als MultiMediaSystem wie die Xbox angepriesen wurde sollte man diese Features dann auch bieten..
Richtig, zudem es seit 2006 ein standart ist und jeder billige furz 30€ player kann. Es weckt hoffnung das bis 2026 sogar hdmi cec mal kommt?
Kann ich nicht beurteilen. Von billigen Furz Playern halte ich meinen Riechkolben meist fern.. 😉
Gut zu hören, dass das xbox Team dran bleibt an den aktuellen Entwicklungen.
ARGH, Scorpio, 4K TV mit HDR mind. 55″ und noch eine Atmos Anlage mit entsprechenden Boxen … WER SOLL DAS BEZAHLEN 😀 … naja immerhin bietet der Hersteller die Möglichkeit.
